Posted by Stephanie • 2 Comments »

A few reports have been circulating regarding Amanda starring in an upcoming “Cinderella” adaptation but Gossip Cop has just reported the following:

Has Amanda Seyfried been tapped to bring a fairy tale to life?

That’s what outlets everywhere are reporting after word spread that the Mamma Mia! star will star in Cinderella when Disney films a live-action update of its animated classic.

Perez Hilton gets into the act, going so far as to announce that the actress “has signed on to play the iconic role!”

But don’t expect to see Seyfried trying on the glass slipper anytime soon.

The casting rumor is “not true,” her rep tells Gossip Cop.

Amanda for “The Master”?
Posted by Stephanie • 2 Comments »

Here’s a new article for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film The Master:

Despite the fact that Universal passed on financing the picture, Paul Thomas Anderson is still working on his next film The Master, about a man who creates a ‘faith-based organization’ that mushrooms into an empire in the ’50s.

Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeremy Renner are on board, and now Anderson is working to cast some of the major female roles. Among the possible actresses to appear are Reese Witherspoon, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone and Deborah Ann Woll.

The Playlist reported last week that PTA had put an offer out to Reese Witherspoon which, if accepted, would cast her as Mary-Sue, wife of the title character (Hoffman) who “acts as his caretaker and vigilant lieutenant.”

The other primary female role is Elizabeth, daughter of Mary-Sue and the master. Three actresses are being considered for that role, says Production Weekly (via The Playlist): Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone and Deborah Ann Woll.

All three are intriguing candidates, but Seyfried and Stone both have upcoming commitments. Seyfried has The Girl with the Red Riding Hood and Stone has The Help. Depending on when PTA wants to put The Master before cameras, those commitments could put them out of the running. Woll has a few films in the can (Mother’s Day, Highland Park, Little Murder) and may still have commitments to True Blood. That said, you know that if there’s a way for any of these three to make their schedule work with a role in a PTA film they’re going to make an effort to get things to work out.

Keep in mind that, while an offer has gone out to Witherspoon, no offer is yet out to any of the other three women for the role of Elizabeth. And, for that matter, there’s still the suggestion that The Master is a provisional title for the film.

What do you all think — is this a role you would like to see Amanda in?

New Project? “The Girl Who Conned The Ivy League”
Posted by Stephanie • 4 Comments »

Thanks to Nikki for the heads up on this one! CinemaBlend via Production Weekly is reporting that Amanda is attached to a new project. Check out the details below:

More Amanda Seyfried please. She brought us Jennifer’s Body in the fall, Dear John in February, Chloe hits theaters on the 26th, Boogie Woogie will see a limited release on April 23rd, Letters to Juliet follows on May 14th, and then there’s the slew of projects on her to do list, one of which may be Catherine Hardwicke’s The Girl in the Red Riding Hood. But wait, there’s more.

Production Weekly just tweeted this: Amanda Seyfried & McG are attached to Lorene Scafaria’s pitch based on the Rolling Stone article The Girl Who Conned The Ivy League. The piece comes from Sabrina Rubin Erdely and tells the story of Esther Reed, a young woman who conned her way into prestigious universities like Harvard and Columbia ultimately becoming the target of a nationwide manhunt. Funny thing is, she’s not wanted for having stolen wads of cash or other valuables, Esther stole identities.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for her – it looks like she could have a very busy schedule ahead of her! Will keep you posted on any developments! :)

Amanda Seyfried likely to don ‘Red Riding Hood’
Posted by Stephanie • 1 Comment »

Nothing definite yet, but it’s super exciting to hear that things are developing and expected to come together. This could be such a great role to see Amanda in! Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

A few weeks ago, we reported that Amanda Seyfried was on the studio shortlist for the Catherine Hardwicke-directed, Leonardo DiCaprio-produced “The Girl With the Red Riding Hood” at Warner Bros. Sources now say it’s looking likely Seyfried will come aboard the dark adaptation of the fairy tale for Hardwicke.

The Times’ Rachel Abramowitz also recently caught up with Hardwicke, who acknowledged the Seyfried discussions. Hardwicke tipped a few more details about the “Twilight”-esque project (based on an idea from DiCaprio), which she described as being about a “village plagued by this wolf.”

“It’s wild with all these different secrets and lies, and a murder mystery,” she said. “It’s super-sexy.”

“Red Riding Hood” has never lacked for modern cinematic re-interpretations, including Neil Jordan’s “The Company of Wolves,” which explored the innocent Riding Hood’s sexual awakening, and the 1996 “Freeway,” in which the story was refracted through the lens of a serial killer (Kiefer Sutherland) and an abused girl (Reese Witherspoon).

Hardwicke adds that she thinks a green light will happen on this one. “We’re on track, and it looks pretty positive,” she said.

Thanks to Brian for the heads up!

Amanda in “The Girl With the Red Riding Hood”?
Posted by Stephanie • 2 Comments »

I wasn’t a fan of Hardwicke’s Twilight, but this looks like it could be an interesting role for Amanda!

Maybe the only people who embrace “Twilight” and “New Moon” more than Twi-hards are Hollywood executives, who have been feverishly trying to develop the next “Twilight,” or at least re-position movies they have as the second coming of same. (Universal tried that a few months ago with a movie called “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant,” which didn’t work out so well.)

Now Warner Bros. appears to be making strides toward getting its own Gothic story of werewolves and young-woman-in-peril closer to the screen — and with the director of “Twilight,” no less.

The company has been developing a movie called “The Girl With the Red Riding Hood,” a modern-day spin on the Brothers Grimm story from Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, since last year. In December, the studio entered a holding deal — basically an arrangement in which the director and studio commit to each other exclusively for a set period of time — with Catherine Hardwicke, the filmmaker behind “Twilight” who parted ways with the studio for “New Moon.”

As that deal comes due this month, it’s increasingly looking like “Girl With the Red Riding Hood” will move forward with Hardwicke. There’s also plenty of other momentum: The studio has a new version of the script, which “Orphan” writer David Johnson has been working on the last several months. And producers are starting to go out to cast, with Amanda Seyfried — fresh off her “Dear John” turn and with at least one girl-oriented dark role, “Jennifer’s Body,” under her belt — one of the few names the studio would like to hook.

Hard The story is an update of Little Red Riding Hood, with the requisite dark/dangerous/romantic elements that can appeal to “Twilight” fans — while also attracting audiences who simply like the fairy tale. (The script has gotten high marks from power players around town, who describe it as elevated genre material a la this weekend’s “Shutter Island.”) True, “Riding Hood” doesn’t have Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner or Robert Pattinson playing Bella, Jacob or Edward — but then those stars were made by “Twilight,” not the other way around.

The biggest thing working against the Warner Bros. movie may be that that it doesn’t derive from Stephenie Meyer’s global bestsellers but from the work of a couple of German academics circa the early 19th century. But when it comes to finding the next “Twilight,” these may be mere details.

What do you think of this possible role? Is it something you would like to see Amanda take part in?
