“In Time” star Amanda Seyfried is in talks to play adult film star Linda Lovelace in Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s drama “Lovelace.”
Peter Sarsgaard, who was last seen playing the villain in “Green Lantern,” is in early talks to play her pornographer husband Chuck Traynor.W. Merritt Johnson and Andy Bellin wrote the script, which is based on Eric Danville’s book “The Complete Linda Lovelace.”
Avi Lerner, Heidi Jo Markel and Untitled’s Laura Rister will produce.
Lovelace is the infamous star of the 1972 porn flick “Deep Throat,” which is one of the highest-grossing independent films of all-time. She was just a Florida schoolgirl named Linda Boreman when she met Traynor, a would-be filmmaker transformed her into a world-famous sex star. After years of being victimized, Lovelace quit the business and divorced Traynor, who she accused of taking advantage of her naivete and coercing her into porn and prostitution.
Epstein and Friedman’s “Howl” star James Franco and Kate Hudson were previously attached to star before the latter thesp became pregnant. A rival film from writer-director Matthew Wilder based on Lovelace’s autobiography “Ordeal” remains in development with Malin Akerman attached to star.
“Lovelace” is expected to start production in January
Seyfried, who next stars in Heitor Dhalia’s thriller “Gone,” recently wrapped Justin Zackham’s comedy “The Wedding.” She’s repped by Innovative Artists, while CAA and Authentic Talent and Literary Management rep Sarsgaard.
Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in the indie comedy “Gently Down the Stream.”
Justin Zackham (“The Bucket List”) will write and direct the pic, which is a co-production between the filmmaker’s Two Ton Films banner and Millennium Films.
De Niro and Keaton play a long-divorced couple who, for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding and his biological mother, pretend they are still married. They quickly learn that acting the part isn’t easy, especially when their past, present and future unravel for all to see.
Zackham and his Two Ton Films partner Clay Pecorin will produce with Richard Salvatore and Harry Ufland, while Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short will exec produce. Production is scheduled to start this July in Greenwich, CT.
“Working with Diane and De Niro again will be great,” said Lerner. “Katherine and Amanda are young talented actors. It is good casting. Justin’s script is well written and he is the right choice to direct. It is going to be warm-hearted funny film.”
Summit Entertainment has set the release date for “Gone”:
Gone, which stars Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Carpenter and Sebastian Stan will be released February 24, 2012.
Directed by Heitor Dhalia, Gone centers on a young woman (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She is convinced that the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job but when the police do not believe her and with no one to turn to, the woman sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.
Sorry about the lack of updates, but they should really resume today – I’ll be catching up with the stuff (and e-mails!) I’ve missed. To start, here’s some new casting news for “Gone.”

One of our faces to watch in 2011 continues to line up a busy year ahead, as Variety reports Sebastian Stan has landed a role in thriller “Gone” starring Amanda Seyfried. Australian thesp Socratis Otto has also joined the cast.
Shooting begins in April under the direction of Heitor Dhalia from a script by Allison Burnett. Seyfried plays a kidnap victim who escapes and is convinced the serial killer who abducted her has abducted her newly missing sister. When the police refuse to believe her claims, she must take matters into her own hands to face down her kidnapper and save her sister. Jennifer Carpenter is also on board as a police officer and Emily Wickersham and Wes Bently are in the ensemble cast as well, in unnamed roles, though we would venture to guess Wickersham will be playing the younger sister and Bently the serial killer.
After gaining recognition on television shows like “Gossip Girl” and “Kings”, Stan made his foray into serious feature film acting with supporting roles in “Rachel Getting Married” and “Black Swan” and will next be seen in the pivotal role of Bucky Barnes in “Captain America: The First Avenger” opposite Chris Evans. He has completed filming on his first starring studio film, horror “The Apparition” opposite “Twilight” star Ashley Greene, and will next film a new version of “A View from the Bridge” opposite Mia Wasikowska.
Glad to see this moving right along. Three actors have joined in “Gone”, Amanda’s next project:

Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley and Jennifer Carpenter are going to “Gone” opposite Amanda Seyfried in the thriller from Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.
Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing alongside Sidney Kimmel, Chris Salvaterra and Dan Abrams. Summit has U.S. distribution rights
“Gone” will be directed by Heitor Dhalia from a script penned by Allison Burnett centering on a kidnap survivor who attempts to find the same killer whom she believes has abducted her sister. Seyfried came on board in February.
Shooting’s set to being in April. Lakeshore, Sidney Kimmel and Summit are set to partner on the upcoming production of fantasy-romancer “Adaline.” Lakeshore and Sidney Kimmel have partnered previously partnered on “The Lincoln Lawyer,” starring Matthew McConaughey, and “One for the Money,” starring Katherie Heigl.
Wickersham’s in “I Am Number Four” and Carpenter’s a regular on “Dexter.” Bentley was seen in “Jonah Hex.”

The film has also received an inevitable PG-13 rating:
Red Riding Hood, starring Amanda Seyfried, has just come back from the MPAA ratings board with a PG-13 rating. Red Riding Hood from director and co-starring an all star lineup that includes Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Julie Christie, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas and Virginia Madsen deals with Valerie (Seyfried). Valerie’s a beautiful young woman torn between two men. That’s when her older sister is killed by the werewolf that prowls the dark forest surrounding their village.
For years, the people have maintained an uneasy truce with the beast, offering the creature a monthly animal sacrifice. However, the wolf has upped the stakes by taking a human life. Hungry for revenge, the people call on famed werewolf hunter, Father Solomon (Oldman), to help them kill the wolf. Solomon warns that the wolf, who takes human form by day, could be any one of them. As the death toll rises with each moon, Valerie begins to suspect that the werewolf could be someone she loves. As panic grips the town, Valerie discovers that she has a unique connection to the beast–one that inexorably draws them together, making her both suspect…and bait.
Red Riding Hood is rated PG-13 for violence and creature terror, and some sensuality. Red Riding Hood is due to be released by Warner Bros. on March 11, 2011.
Thanks Brian!
Just the other day I was wondering what Amanda’s next move would be, and here we go! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amanda will be reuniting with Summit for “Gone.” Get details below:
Another new project has been unveiled at the European Film Market in Berlin: Amanda Seyfried thriller Gone, from Summit Entertainment, Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel.
Summit has scooped up domestic distribution to the project. Lakeshore and Nick Meyer’s Sierra Pictures/Affinity will now begin selling the project to foreign buyers in Berlin.
Buzzed-about Brazilian filmmaker Heitor Dhalia begins lensing Gone in April from a script by Allison Burnett.
Hollywood has been wanting to get into business with Dhalia, who makes his English-language debut with Gone.
The thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job.
But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, she sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.
Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing the thriller alongside Sidney Kimmel, Chris Salvaterra and Dan Abrams.
Gone reunites Seyfried and Summit for the third time after Dear John and Letters to Juliet.
“We are very excited to be distributing this film and working once again with both Lakeshore and Amanda,” said Summit co-chair Rob Friedman, adding it is the first time the company has partnered with Sidney Kimmel.
Rosenberg said Seyfried is the “perfect actress to play the smart and fearless heroine in Gone.”
Seyfried is next in theaters in Catherine Hardwicke’s Red Riding Hood, which opens March 11, followed by Andrew Niccol’s Now in October.
Seyfried is repped by Innovative Artists. Dhalia is repped by WME, and Burnett, the Gersh Agency.
This sounds really awesome, in my opinion. What do you all think?
