Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in the indie comedy “Gently Down the Stream.”
Justin Zackham (“The Bucket List”) will write and direct the pic, which is a co-production between the filmmaker’s Two Ton Films banner and Millennium Films.
De Niro and Keaton play a long-divorced couple who, for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding and his biological mother, pretend they are still married. They quickly learn that acting the part isn’t easy, especially when their past, present and future unravel for all to see.
Zackham and his Two Ton Films partner Clay Pecorin will produce with Richard Salvatore and Harry Ufland, while Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short will exec produce. Production is scheduled to start this July in Greenwich, CT.
“Working with Diane and De Niro again will be great,” said Lerner. “Katherine and Amanda are young talented actors. It is good casting. Justin’s script is well written and he is the right choice to direct. It is going to be warm-hearted funny film.”
Summit Entertainment has set the release date for “Gone”:
Gone, which stars Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Carpenter and Sebastian Stan will be released February 24, 2012.
Directed by Heitor Dhalia, Gone centers on a young woman (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She is convinced that the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job but when the police do not believe her and with no one to turn to, the woman sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.

Sorry about the lack of updates, but they should really resume today – I’ll be catching up with the stuff (and e-mails!) I’ve missed. To start, here’s some new casting news for “Gone.”

One of our faces to watch in 2011 continues to line up a busy year ahead, as Variety reports Sebastian Stan has landed a role in thriller “Gone” starring Amanda Seyfried. Australian thesp Socratis Otto has also joined the cast.
Shooting begins in April under the direction of Heitor Dhalia from a script by Allison Burnett. Seyfried plays a kidnap victim who escapes and is convinced the serial killer who abducted her has abducted her newly missing sister. When the police refuse to believe her claims, she must take matters into her own hands to face down her kidnapper and save her sister. Jennifer Carpenter is also on board as a police officer and Emily Wickersham and Wes Bently are in the ensemble cast as well, in unnamed roles, though we would venture to guess Wickersham will be playing the younger sister and Bently the serial killer.
After gaining recognition on television shows like “Gossip Girl” and “Kings”, Stan made his foray into serious feature film acting with supporting roles in “Rachel Getting Married” and “Black Swan” and will next be seen in the pivotal role of Bucky Barnes in “Captain America: The First Avenger” opposite Chris Evans. He has completed filming on his first starring studio film, horror “The Apparition” opposite “Twilight” star Ashley Greene, and will next film a new version of “A View from the Bridge” opposite Mia Wasikowska.
