Amanda Seyfried is young and beautiful, with deep, soulful eyes that are as round as saucers.
Petite, and wearing a gorgeous black and white Missoni dress, the actress looks like she could melt a thousand hearts with the bat of an eyelid. But Seyfried is the first to admit that she’s just as lucky, and unlucky, in love as the rest of us.
The 25-year-old was in a relationship with her Mamma Mia co-star Dominic Cooper for two years and, after meeting at Kate Hudson’s Halloween party last October, she’s been spotted in the company of actor Ryan Phillippe (she’ll only say that she’s been “seen” with him).
You’d be forgiven for thinking that her life is a modern-day fairytale just like Red Riding Hood, her latest movie.
But the softly spoken Pennsylvanian blonde reveals that she’s still finding her feet when it comes to dating.
“Relationships are hard,” she says decisively. “It’s hard to find a good partner and, the older I get, the more I realise how hard it is to find the right person.”
She pauses for a moment to reflect before adding: “Also, my brain is developing. I’m still figuring out what I need and what I want from a relationship, particularly because I have such a busy lifestyle.”
Of course, having shot to fame in Mamma Mia, she’s now under scrutiny everywhere she goes, which means that she’s become accustomed to people talking about her.
“Any actor, no matter how young or old, if you’re in the public eye, people will judge you and your relationships,” she sighs.
“They are going to judge who you are with, and why, and how long. People will have opinions about it so that’s hard, especially if it’s someone you care about.”
