We’ll be getting “Red Riding Hood” even earlier than expected! Warner Brothers has just released the new date – mark your calendars:

Warner Bros. announced today that Catherine Hardwicke’s RED RIDING HOOD has switched to a brand new date in Spring 2011. Read on for more!

Previously slated to come out April 22, the film about a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) terrorized by a werewolf in a medieval village has moved up to March 11, 2011. This may be due to keep the genre film out of the way of SCREAM 4, which hits just a week previous on April 15, but it’s now pitted directly against Jonathan Liebesman’s BATTLE: LOS ANGELES and releases just a week before another teen supernatural swooner, BEASTLY. RED RIDING HOOD was written by ORPHAN screenwriter David Leslie Johnson and also stars DEADGIRL’S Shiloh Fernandez, Max Irons, Julie Christie, Lukas Haas and Gary Oldman.

A few reports have been circulating regarding Amanda starring in an upcoming “Cinderella” adaptation but Gossip Cop has just reported the following:

Has Amanda Seyfried been tapped to bring a fairy tale to life?

That’s what outlets everywhere are reporting after word spread that the Mamma Mia! star will star in Cinderella when Disney films a live-action update of its animated classic.

Perez Hilton gets into the act, going so far as to announce that the actress “has signed on to play the iconic role!”

But don’t expect to see Seyfried trying on the glass slipper anytime soon.

The casting rumor is “not true,” her rep tells Gossip Cop.

We have a new addition to the “Red Riding Hood” cast:

Lukas Haas has been tapped to join the cast of Warner Bros.’ “Red Riding Hood” as the village priest.

Catherine Hardwicke is directing the supernatural thriller that stars Amanda Seyfried along with Shiloh Fernandez, Julie Christie and Gary Oldman. David Leslie Johnson (“Orphan”) wrote the script, which is set in a medieval village haunted by a werewolf.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way banner is producing. He’s a producer along with Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Michael Ireland and Alex Mace.

Haas, who began his career in “Witness,” will be seen next in Warner’s “Inception” opposite DiCaprio. He’s been in recent story arcs on “Criminal Minds” and “24.”
